How it began

A Stay Shaped By The Needs Of Every Yatri Who Walks In

Gauri Bhawan Katra started as a small family property with a handful of rooms, set up by locals who had spent years watching pilgrims arrive tired, sometimes confused about where to stay, and unsure what to expect from a room booked sight unseen.

That experience shaped a simple approach: keep the rooms honest, keep the process simple, and be upfront about what a guest is walking into — whether it's a couple on their first Vaishno Devi trip or a joint family travelling with grandparents and children.

The name itself carries meaning. Gauri is another name for Goddess Parvati, the same divine mother worshipped as Vaishno Devi at the Bhawan — a fitting name for a stay built to support that very journey.

Built For The Yatra

Early hot water, quiet floors and a team that understands a 3 a.m. wake-up call.

"We've hosted families on their very first yatra and pilgrims who've stayed with us year after year. Every room is prepared the same way — as if it were for our own family arriving late at night."

Where we are

Close To Katra Main Market, Away From The Noise

As a hotel near the Katra bus stand and Main Market, we let guests reach local transport, evening meals and last-minute essentials on foot — without staying in the middle of the busiest, noisiest stretch of town.

For a pilgrim arriving late in the evening or leaving before sunrise, that balance of convenience and quiet matters more than it might seem.

Why a guest house

Why Pilgrims Choose A Guest House In Katra

Katra has hotels of every size, but many pilgrims prefer a small, family-run guest house for the days around their yatra. Here is what tends to matter most.

Easy Access To Town

Being near the Katra bus stand and Main Market means transport, meals and last-minute shopping are a short walk away.

Flexible For Yatra Timings

Early starts and late returns are normal for pilgrims. A smaller team can adjust wake-up calls, hot water and check-out around your slot.

Family-Sized Rooms

Rooms for two to four guests let families and small groups stay together instead of booking several rooms.
